Erosion Box
A neat functional box made from Hand-carved maple and aged oak.
Inspired again by natural forms and the intrigue of materials that have been left to the elements, we give you the Erosion jewellery/precious items box.
After making the Corrosion box I was interested in experimenting further with this juxtaposition of rough (i.e. weathered/textured) and precise. There is something so satisfying about a neat wooden box that has texture and character at the same time. The main box is made from maple and has been carved with a thin gouge to give this organic-looking texture of horizontal lines. This texture, not only looks great but is so tactile.
The lid panel is made from oak that has been left with its grey aged colour from its years of seasoning outside. The grey tone pairs beautifully with the pale maple.
This box may very well be used as a jewellery box but we prefer not to label it, as you could equally use it for whatever small precious items you have. Store your sewing kit, craft bits, favourite hand tools or all those important bits and bobs that need a place, like your watch, passport and spare keys.
Fitted with Neat Elite Brass Hinges.
